Unlock the Secret to Gorgeous Locks: The Magic of Natural Overnight Hair Masks
Can Hot Weather Damage Your Hair?
As the mercury rises and the sun shines brighter, many of us eagerly welcome the joys of summer. However, amid the beach trips, barbecues, and outdoor adventures, it's important to remember that the scorching heat can impact not just our skin but also our luscious locks. So, let's dive into the question: Can hot weather damage your hair? Don't fret, my sun-kissed friends, because we've got the scoop! Believe it or not, your hair can get sunburned too! Prolonged exposure to the sun's rays can lead to hair damage, especially if you have light or fine hair. The ultraviolet (UV) radiation can weaken the hair shaft, resulting in dryness, brittleness, and faded colour. So, just like you slather on sunscreen for your skin, don't forget to shield your hair with a stylish hat or a spritz of a UV-protectant hair product. Leave in conditioner is your friend here! Summer and humidity go hand in hand, and that can spell trouble for your lovely locks. Excessive sweating can make your scalp moist, which can lead to increased oiliness, dandruff, and itchiness. Moreover, the added moisture in the air can cause hair to absorb it, resulting in frizz and unruly tresses. Combat the effects of humidity by using a lightweight spray conditioner and anti-frizz hair products. Diving into a refreshing pool might be tempting, but the chlorine content in the water can wreak havoc on your hair. Chlorine strips away the natural oils from your strands, leaving them dry, brittle, and prone to breakage. To protect your hair, dampen it with clean water before taking a dip and rinse it thoroughly afterward. Additionally, using a clarifying shampoo can help remove any residual chlorine, allowing your hair to bounce back to its healthy self. With summer's heat already putting stress on your tresses, it's advisable to minimize the use of heat-styling tools like straighteners and curling irons. Applying additional heat can exacerbate the damage and leave your hair feeling parched and lifeless. Instead, embrace the opportunity to try out heatless hairstyles like beachy waves, braids, or chic updos that will keep you looking cool while protecting your locks. Just like you need to keep yourself hydrated during hot weather, your hair needs moisture too. Drink plenty of water and eat a balanced diet to nourish your hair from within. Additionally, using hydrating hair masks, conditioners, and leave-in treatments can replenish lost moisture and restore your hair's natural shine. While the sizzling summer sun may pose some risks to your hair, armed with a few precautions and care, you can ensure that your locks remain fabulous throughout the season. So, don't let the fear of damage stop you from enjoying all the summer fun. Embrace the warmth, protect your strands, and flaunt your gorgeous mane under the sun! Remember, a little bit of sunshine and a lot of TLC can keep your hair looking radiant, even in the hottest weather. When the summer sun turns up the heat, John Masters Organics Leave-In Conditioning Mist becomes your ultimate hair companion. This refreshing and lightweight formula is specifically designed to combat summer hair woes. Say goodbye to dryness, frizz, and dullness, and say hello to hair that feels soft, manageable, and full of life.
Why should men use John Masters Organics products?
Good skin and hair care is not limited to ladies. John Masters creates unisex products that work on a type of hair or skin independently of the gender of the person. Our products are a great natural and organic alternative to what men usually purchase in supermarkets. Our styling products, for instance, will last longer and will protect your hair through the day, instead of damaging it. What should men add to their routine? Conditioning is too often overlooked by men and a lack of conditioner causes dry and frizzy hair as the hair shaft is dehydrated and becomes impossible to comb. This makes us want to use more and more styling products, drying the hair even more and creating a vicious circle. A light conditioner will provide the nourishment and hydration the hair needs, without adding unnecessary oil to the hair. What is the most common issue for men? A majority of men complain about scalp itchiness or dandruff. Our hero product, the Scalp Stimulating Shampoo is a particular John Masters Organics favourite amongst men with a dry scalp or dandruff. It purifies and detoxifies the scalp by providing the nutrients it needs to thrive. Therefore, any dandruff or desquamation (peeling/flaking of dead skin cells) is washed away. The scalp is left feeling clean and healthy, whilst helping to promote hair growth. Any tip? One of our top tips for men is to just let your hair breathe. Use fewer styling products and fewer heating tools to avoid dehydrating and breaking your hair. Try and go a few days without using shampoo to avoid stripping the natural oils from your scalp. Having a minimalist approach is a good thing when looking after your hair. For those of you who want to learn more about hair & skin care for men, we recommend Humanery, home of the world's finest men's grooming & self-care!

How To Identify Your Hair Type And Which Products Will Suit You
To determine which products will work for you, you will first need to identify your hair type. There are many elements that make up hair type but two key areas that tend to get a lot of attention are greasiness/dryness and thickness. In This Blog are two simple tests that will help you determine exactly what your hair needs in no time.
How to look after your hair during the winter months
The winter months can be seriously harsh on our hair. The cold and dry air, bitter winds and freezing temperatures can dehydrate your hair and make it more prone to breakage than it would be in the summer months. If your hair is feeling the effects of the cold, try these tips to get rid of that brittle feeling and give your hair a boost of much needed hydration. Your scalp is the most susceptible place to dehydration. It is exposed to both cold weather and intense indoor heat, and these fast and frequent changes in temperature can really damage it, and your hair strands resultingly. Of course, when our head gets cold, we naturally reach for a hat to pull down over our ears and keep the elements out, but this does our hair no good at all. Wearing hats increases the stress and friction on our hair follicles and paired with constant taking on and off you’re at risk of losing extra hair every time it’s removed. One way of keeping your hair and scalp moisturised is to treat it with a thick, rich, moisturising conditioner once or twice a week during the winter months – or even all year round! Conditioners like this contain fatty acids, soy proteins and nourishing oils like avocado and jojoba that attract and retain moisture in the hair. Make sure you choose a conditioner that is suitable for your hair type, you don’t want to weigh it down with something too dense for your needs. Another great way to combat the brittle texture we get especially at the ends of our hair is to use a natural hair oil. Simply rub a small amount of Nourishing Defrizzer for Dry Hair in the palms of your hands and apply from the bottom upwards. This will not only give your hair some welcome moisture, but it will also provide an extra layer of protection against the winter wind. Dehydration affects us all in different ways. That’s why we at John Masters Organics have curated a wide range of products, meaning no hair type is left out in the cold. If you suffer particularly with dryness we would recommend using our Shampoo for Dry Hair with Evening Primrose. Evening primrose is naturally packed with gamma linolenic acid, an anti-inflammatory Omega-6 that does wonders for dry skin and hair. It nourishes your hair from the inside out, restoring bounce and shine. The other active ingredients are jojoba seed oil and avocado oil, both rich in antioxidants and healthy fats that encourage moisture retention and hair rejuvenation. If you have itchy or flaky scalp skin, opt for our 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner for Dry Scalp with Zinc & Sage. Our body doesn’t naturally produce zinc, which is important for protein syntheses and development, so using a shampoo rich with this mineral works to combat dryness by promoting cell health and rejuvenation. Sage purifies and soothes the scalp, whilst the added wheat amino acids condition strands, meaning they will be more manageable and less prone to that ‘frizzy’ look. If you’re looking for a natural solution to deeply repair, recondition, and moisturise, then look no further than our Repair Conditioner for Damaged Hair with Honey & Hibiscus. If you’re in desperate need of a quick fix for brittle hair, then use our conditioner by massaging into the strands and leaving to soak for 1 to 3 minutes, depending on the level of rescue needed. This product is indulgent on all levels; moisturising, soothing and shining, you name it, this conditioner does it! The organic honey coats the hair, revitalising and protecting against further damage, whilst the hibiscus flower extract contains amino acids that repair and strengthen strands. It will leave you with healthy looking locks, and let’s face it, when it comes to hair, that’s what we all want! After your hair is cleaned and conditioned, don’t forget to hydrate it daily with our light Hair Milk with Rose & Apricot. In addition to giving your hair hydration and shine, it’s delicate rose fragrance will stay with you all day long. Use as a defrizzing product or to provide a lightweight hold for styling all whilst maintaining a smooth bounce. If you work in an air-conditioned space or notice that having the central heating on dries your hair and scalp out, then our Leave-in Conditioning Mist with Green Tea & Calendula is the perfect SOS product for when you need a quick frizz fix. Easy to carry around and simple to apply, this product will give your hair the added moisture it needs any time of day or night. As well as looking after your hair and using products that are suited to your type, taking supplements is also important for retaining strength during the winter months. They will improve the condition of your scalp and locks by caring for your body from the inside out. We recommend taking a supplement that contains biotin and horsetail, such as Megi Wellness, to allow your hair to reach its full potential and look fabulous this festive season. Organic Hair Care Has Never Felt So Good (Or Been So Easy!)
Organic Professional Hair Care You need only cast your mind back a few short years, to a time where words like ‘natural’ and ‘organic’ in hair care meant ‘short shelf-life’ and sadly were often felt to be too far removed from words like ‘salon quality’ and ‘professional’. Happily those days are over! John Masters Organics have beautifully managed that delicate balancing act between making organic natural hair care products that you want because you love the environment and the world around you, and the other side of the hair care coin - professional looking hair that feels as soft and gentle as a summer breeze. Today we want it all - an amazing quality product that nourishes, protects and feeds our hair with the best nature has to offer, married to the satin smooth feel, bounce and glow of professional stylist products. Nasty chemicals have been replaced by well balanced replacements already found in the natural world, just waiting for someone to realise that we don’t need to sacrifice goodness for a salon ready finish. Take the scalp follicle treatment and volumizer. It sounds like it’s chock full of chemicals, solvents and E-numbers but the truth is that the primary ingredients are thyme and Irish moss. The goodness that your scalp needed was there in nature all along folks! Not that these products look anything less than professional, salon ready products. The packaging is stylish (naturally, recyclable) and smart. The range of organic hair care treatments are outstanding too - shampoos, scalp care, conditioner, styling products and brushes have been made with the same goal in mind - always be green, organic and natural yet never sacrifice on the results or the quality. The organic ingredients used in these products make them sound almost edible - lavender and avocado shampoo for dry hair, green tea and calendula conditioning mist. They smell as good as they sound (if not better!), they make your hair feel amazing, they are professionally made for professional results… and they don’t cost the earth. The future is now. It’s Green, Organic and Natural - you’ll never look back once you’ve tried John Masters Organics!
How to achieve a perfectly natural skin care routine
So, chances are if you’re reading this you’ve reached the understanding that achieving your version of perfectly natural beauty doesn’t need to come at the expense of the health of the wonderful world we live in, or yours. Nice work! Naturally rich in antioxidants, essential fatty acids, and vitamins and minerals, effective organic natural ingredients are capable of transforming your skin by combating free radical damage, supporting cell turnover and strengthening your skin barrier. Unfortunately, coming to this realisation and making the decision to switch is often the easy bit, so we totally get it if you’re feeling overwhelmed with choice and what to include in your new, perfectly natural routine. Don’t panic! John Masters Organics has decades of industry experience and innovation and in this blog we’re discussing what you really need if you want to harness the power of plants. From sensitizing ingredients to environmental aggressors, your skin is under consistent and sustained attack on a daily basis and knowing which culprits to ID is key to getting the upper hand… Here are your 3 simple steps to achieving holistic wellbeing inside and out, and the best glowing skin of your life! CLEANSE (GENTLY)Wow, do our 21st century lifestyles like to take it out on our skin! If this resonates, you’re most likely suffering from dry and unhappy skin due to a chronic loss of dehydration. Aside from not drinking enough water (two litres a day minimum please) and taking enough time out to safeguard your physical and mental wellbeing, in skincare terms this means clogged pores, and an accelerating rate of skin ageing – not what we want! Ingredients to avoid are drying alcohols (that disrupt your skin barrier), fragrance, and harsh exfoliants like highly concentrated hydroxy acids and those gritty physical scrubs. You need to select a cleanser that is specifically tailored to your skin type or concern. If you’re looking for an everyday skincare treat, then look no further than the John Masters Organics Cleansing Balm. This sumptuously silky balm transforms into a luxurious oil on contact with water to provide a gentle cleanse whilst safeguarding your skin’s natural moisture levels with Kokum butter and Sea Buckthorn extract. Looking for something more targeted? There are cleansers in the range specifically tailored to oily or blemish prone skin as well as those wanting more foaming or exfoliating action. Remember, products should be as unique as you are… GET KNEE DEEP IN NOURISHMENT Daily skin damage needs intensely nourishing and hydrating products to consistently heal your skin. Before you reach for the essential oils thinking they’re the best thing to calm your stressed-out skin, you’d be wise to think again. We’ll be the first ones to tell you - not all that’s natural is good for all skin types, particularly those with sensitive skin. Whilst it’s true that essential oils have a host of fantastic antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, for some skin they’re just too complex, so it’s best to treat with caution when incorporating them into your routine for the first time. You need a serum that is dedicated to delivering a cocktail of essential vitamins and antioxidants to brighten and repair dull looking skin, boost firmness, elasticity, and improve skin texture. The plant actives that support this? The world-renowned Kakadu Plum with the highest concentration of vitamin C in the WORLD and you’ll find it packed into our incredible Intensive Daily Serum formula. Gentle enough for everyday use, it provides unrivalled protection against pollution and other free radical damage whilst providing the nourishment your skin needs to glow it’s best. PROTECT. PROTECT. PROTECT.If you’ve heard it once you’ve heard it a thousand times, but it really is true: prevention is better than cure. Before you look at us sceptically, what on earth is the point of making all these changes to your routine only to throw it all away at the final hurdle?! Lock in all that goodness from your previous steps with a moisturiser packed full of top performing antioxidants in one lightweight cream. The John Masters Organics Antioxidant Cream revitalises dull and dehydrated skin with Rose & Apricot extracts and other unique organic botanicals. If you’re looking to step your routine up a notch, then the John Masters Organics Overnight Facial Mask is the perfect visible pick me up. Brighter, more youthful skin is within (overnight) reach with this formula packed with nature’s best hydrator – hyaluronic acid. So, there you have it, by knowing which key skin sensitizers to avoid (and some amazingly efficient natural products) you can keep your skin glowing and your routine one step ahead of the curve. Sadly, if they’re present in your current products, then it’s time to send them to skincare heaven (or hell) and to trust a brand with exceptionally authentic ingredients, effortless application, and embrace your version of perfectly natural beauty… Now where on earth can you find products that contain all that goodness…? Hint: that’s us! John Masters Organics
